STEP 5. ARRIVAL
After completing the visa process at the Uzbekistan Embassy or Consulate, students must inform the university of their flight details, including date and arrival time. The university’s representative will receive the student at the airport. Failure to communicate arrival details may result in deportation. The university notifies the Migration Service of Uzbekistan about the student’s arrival. The Border Service at the airport verifies the official representative mentioned in the student’s official letter during passport control.
All international students intending to study at the University in Uzbekistan are required to obtain a VISA. However, citizens of certain countries such as Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, and Ukraine are exempt from the visa requirement to enter the Republic of Uzbekistan.
It is important to note that entering Uzbekistan on a visitor’s visa with the intention of later registering as a student is not recommended. Students are advised to enter the country with a student visa directly.
The required documents and visa fees can vary based on your citizenship and where you apply. Below is a list of the necessary documents for obtaining an Uzbek VISA:
One crucial aspect of the Uzbekistan travel process is the Registration of Stay. Upon arrival in Uzbekistan, students have 72 hours to register at the local Immigration Authorities. Additionally, customs officers will require a declaration form during both arrival and departure. Students can acquire their VISA upon arrival at the Uzbekistan Airport within 10 working days after covering the Tuition Fees.
Prospective students are advised to consider arriving at Termez International Airport, as it offers the convenience of a smooth reception process. However, the university administration is dedicated to ensuring students’ comfort and will make suitable arrangements for their travel to the campus from other airports as well. The university takes pride in its commitment to welcoming students and facilitating their transition to the academic environment.
Upon arrival in Uzbekistan, the university’s representatives will be present at the airports to receive and assist the students. It is strongly recommended to book flights well in advance due to the high travel demand during the academic year’s commencement.
A designated representative will be stationed at the airport to receive the student, ensuring a seamless transition to the university’s campus. In cases where students fail to communicate their arrival details, appropriate arrangements might not be in place, and they may face challenges upon entry.
The university’s administration notifies the Migration Service of Uzbekistan in advance about the students’ arrival through official correspondence. At the passport control, the Border Service verifies the authenticity of the official representative mentioned in the letter, enhancing security protocols.
During the border control process, students will undergo routine questioning, where they should clearly state their university, chosen faculty, and the designated person picking them up at the airport. Adequate funds in USD or EURO are recommended to cover initial university fees and immediate expenses.
Upon arrival, students are required to submit essential documents including their passport, ten passport-size photos, the original invitation letter, attested Higher Secondary School certificate with transcripts from the Uzbekistan Embassy, and the birth certificate. It is crucial to share scanned copies of flight tickets and visa documents promptly. Crossing the border control without the designated representative is strongly discouraged.
Furthermore, students must be prepared with sufficient cash in USD or EURO to cover their initial living expenses. This precautionary measure ensures a smooth settling-in process as students transition to their new academic journey in Uzbekistan.

Uzbek cuisine finds its foundation in a blend of fundamental ingredients including flour, meat (usually beef or mutton), vegetables, fragrant herbs, and a medley of spices. These components harmonize to create a symphony of flavors and textures, albeit with a notable emphasis on calorie content attributed to a significant usage of oil. The oils predominantly employed are cottonseed oil and sunflower oil, often contributing to the richness of the dishes. A distinctive feature of Uzbek culinary practices is the omission of pork, which is entirely absent from the cuisine.
A notable aspect of Uzbek gastronomy is the gender-specific preparation of certain dishes, with some delicacies exclusively crafted by men. Moreover, there exists a tradition of crafting special dishes exclusively reserved for festive occasions, holidays, and other noteworthy events, adding a sense of occasion and celebration to the culinary landscape.
Plov, often referred to as pilaf, palov, or osh, takes center stage as the quintessential dish of Uzbekistan.
