Saint James School of Medicine is a private international medical school that operates two basic science campuses, one in the British Overseas Territory of Anguilla and the other in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. It is considered one school with two campuses and grants graduates the Doctor of Medicine degree. The school was initially established in Bonaire in 1999, with instruction beginning in 2000. In 2010, a second campus was opened in Anguilla, and in 2014, a third campus was established in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The Bonaire campus was merged into the Saint Vincent and the Grenadines campus in 2015.
The MD program at St. James School of Medicine consists of 10 semesters, with three semesters per calendar year, each lasting four months. The first five semesters focus on basic sciences and are completed at one of the Caribbean campuses in Anguilla or St. Vincent and the Grenadines. The fifth semester, “Advanced Introduction to Clinical Medicine,” was initially completed at Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago but later relocated to one of the Caribbean campuses. After completing these semesters, students are expected to take the United States Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) Step 1, with a pass guarantee offered by the school. St. James School of Medicine also offers extended programs beyond the standard five semesters in the Basic Science program.
Both campuses of St. James School of Medicine are listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools. Graduates are eligible for the USMLE, ECFMG Certification, and the Canadian Medical Licensing Exams. The Anguilla campus received initial accreditation as a developing school from the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP) in September 2009, with subsequent extensions of provisional accreditation, the latest of which was in August 2018, extending it for another year.
Diversity: Attributes that promote diversity are also considered during the selection process.

Saint James School of Medicine firmly believes that a medical career should be within reach for anyone possessing the dedication and aptitude to excel. They are dedicated to providing a high-quality medical education at the most reasonable tuition rates among all accredited medical schools.

Our faculty comprises experienced medical school professors from the United States and Canada who have chosen to combine their passion for teaching with the laid-back island lifestyle of St. Vincent. They are dedicated to providing you with the best possible medical education.
One of the great benefits of attending a Caribbean medical school is the wealth of activities available outside study hours. At Saint James St. Vincent, we proudly support various student organizations and associations. These include “DOT” (Doctors of Tomorrow), “G.I.V.E.” (Get Involved and Value Everyone), and even the “Lady Ligers Rugby” team. However, St. Vincent is a new campus with a growing student community, so we encourage students to establish new clubs and activities to enrich their campus life further.
The Student Government Association (SGA) plays a vital role in student life. It promotes self-improvement, maintains good relations with the island community, and organizes events like welcome parties for new students. SGA officers meet regularly with school administration to ensure that your concerns are heard and addressed.
Additionally, we are affiliated with the American Medical Students Association (AMSA), the oldest and largest independent association of physicians-in-training in the United States. AMSA is committed to representing the concerns of physicians-in-training and is dedicated to improving medical training and the nation’s health.
