The establishment and establishment of Lumbini Medical College in Tansen, with a strong commitment to developing this town based on three principles – education, health, and tourism, have instilled a sense of purpose, passion, and joy among individuals involved. Recognizing the need for a medical college in the western hilly region, the concept of Lumbini Medical College & Teaching Hospital Pvt. Ltd. was born, leading to the establishment of a 100-bed hospital in the year 2063 B.S. with approval from the Ministry of Health and Population.
While health is a crucial responsibility of the government, considering the numerous challenges faced by the country, it is not practical to expect the government to address every issue. Hence, this significant project was implemented in a phased manner, with the collaboration of local Nepalese entrepreneurs.
Over the years, the hospital has been expanded to a 600-bed facility, offering various services and facilities such as CT scans, Fluoroscopy, Laparoscopy, minimally invasive surgery, Uretero-renoscopy (URS), and ICPL. The hospital now houses well-equipped operation theaters, sub-specialty services, and more.
Before becoming affiliated with Kathmandu University, Lumbini Medical College had the privilege of organizing the VIth National Surgical Conference of the Society of Surgeons of Nepal on 22nd – 23rd December 2007. The college has also been granted permission to run the Nursing Program, further expanding its scope for producing skilled healthcare professionals.
Lumbini Medical College’s dedicated efforts have been recognized, as it received affiliation from the prestigious Kathmandu University of Nepal on 16th November 2008. The college is also in the process of being registered in the World Directory of Medical Schools by the WHO.
In this advanced era of Medical Science, the college places significant emphasis on research in various areas that require attention. They focus on conducting research in existing and emerging medical conditions that pose a threat to the local communities.
